Maniototo Wool

Maniototo Wool is soft, strong and hand-dyed in colours inspired by the Maniototo and Geraldine areas on the South Island in New Zealand. The yarn is woolen spun so the individual fibres lie in all directions, which creates a lofty yarn (with lots of air pockets) that is exceptionally warm and resilient.

Mary, owner of Maniototo wool, selects fleeces from sheep bred from Merino rams and Romney ewes, farmed in the Maniototo area of Central Otago – the hottest, coldest and driest region in New Zealand.

She uses colour-fast dyes for protein fibres to hand dye the wool in small lots (1 kg), reflecting the beauty of the region. Mary's yarns are so soft, lovely, and easy to work...truly  yum-worthy!
